My Story

I’m a professor, writer, and freelance UI/UX designer who creates intelligent, well-informed, usable interfaces and learning experiences, both online and off.

I hold an MFA, a PhD, and a UI certification. I’ve worked as an editor, a writing teacher, a web copywriter, and an instructional designer. Currently, I teach college courses on digital culture and ethics, the history of the Internet, and web and UI design at UNC-Chapel Hill.

I also design and deliver workshops and trainings and facilitate communications between developers and designers, technologists and humanities scholars, and academics and tech industry professionals. I work to help folks understand each other and to create productive, happy (mostly!) collaborations.

If I can help you or your organization, let me know!
